Art Institute San Francisco and The City of San Francisco

San Francisco is a city made for designers. The Bay Area’s natural beauty, urban energy, cultural hot spots, and tech-savvy citizens create a community filled with opportunities for creative people to thrive. San Francisco’s design community draws students with an independent flair. As part of this community The Art Institute of California – San Francisco plays an active part in developing a new generation of diverse and distinctive designers.

A gold rush transformed a fishing village into the internationally-famous city of San Francisco almost overnight, and for 153 years it has been a magnet for fortune-seekers, immigrants, artists and poets. Guarded by the famous bridge spanning the Golden Gate, the city by the bay is famous for its diverse citizenry, Victorian architecture, cable cars, and scenic views.

San Francisco is a city built on 43 hills, with steep, curving streets. Vermont Avenue between 22nd and 23rd is the most crooked, and Filbert between Hyde and Leavenworth is steepest at 31.5 degrees, but neither fact discourages tourists from flocking to Lombard Street's seductive curves. With all of the fun and interesting facts about San Francisco, you will find it’s the perfect place for an education.
